Reno, NV — A winter storm packing a potent punch is bearing down on the Sierra and western Nevada.
A winter storm warning has been posted for the Lake Tahoe region as well as the Reno-Sparks area beginning this afternoon through tomorrow.
The National Weather Service says heavy snow and blustery winds will make driving across the region treacherous.
Anywhere from 2 to 4 feet of snow is anticipated at the higher elevations in the Sierra.
Forecasters say up to 6 inches is possible tonight around Reno and other valleys along the east side of the Sierra.
