Coroner Releases Autopsy Results For Jail Inmate
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department has released the results of an autopsy performed on an inmate found dead in his cell at the county jail.
The County Coroner´s Office says the 43-year-old man died of a major heart attack sometime between 4:30 and 5:00 Friday afternoon.
Authorities say he was unresponsive when he was discovered by a jail staff member who came by to collect the man´s food tray after dinner.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR until medics arrived. The man was pronounced dead at Tuolumne General Hospital about a half hour later.
The Sheriff´s Department continues to withhold the man´s identity pending notification of relatives.
