TGH Trustees Urged To Explore New Options For Hospital

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County Supervisor Mark Thornton is challenging the Tuolumne General Hospital board of trustees to explore more options, after hearing their presentation Tuesday.

The trustees recommended continuing operation of the hospital as a full service facility; however Thornton asked the trustees to gather more information on the possibility of the county purchasing Sonora Regional Hospital and turning it into a public, county run facility.

The trustees were faced with choosing between three options laid out by the Lewin Group; keeping the hospital running as it is, operating it as a non-acute facility, or closing it completely.

The first meeting in February will consist of the County Administrator´s office presenting a recommendation to the board. That presentation will mark the start of the formal hearings to consider the options. To follow the latest developments, Tuolumne County Supervisors meetings will be streamed live on MyMotherLode.com
