Sonora Union Names New Alternative Education Principal
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Union High School District has a new incoming Principal of Alternative Education.
The Board of Trustees appointed Jim Roeber during last night´s school board meeting. Roeber is currently an English teacher and Senior Exit Project Coordinator at Sonora High School.
He will formally assume his new responsibilities on July 1. He will be replacing current principal Dave Crocker who has announced his retirement effective June 30.
The new alternative education principal has logged a total of 27 years of school experience, all in the Sonora Union High School District.
While this move marks the first formal administrative assignment for Roeber, co-workers say he has accrued previous leadership experience as a varsity coach, department chairperson, and senior exit project coordinator, a position he has held since the program´s inception.
Roeber has twice earned Coach of the Year honors in the San Joaquin Section and was named 2005 Teacher of the Year by the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce.
Roeber will be formally recognized by the Board for this promotion during the February 7th meeting that will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Sonora High School Library.
