Zero Tolerance Day Set for Thursday

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Thursday will be a “Zero Tolerance” day on Highway 49 from the Tuolumne County Line to Interstate 80.

California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Maddox says law enforcement agencies are open about announcing such days but they will never release the time of the patrols to the general public.

The purpose of a “Zero Tolerance” day is to remind the public to follow the rules of the road: obey the posted speed limit, don´t follow too closely and always buckle up.

On an average day on Highway 49, only two to three motorists might be ticketed. Thursday with a maximum enforcement effort, Maddox estimates that 80 tickets could be written.
