Calaveras County Under Flash Flood Warning
San Andreas, CA — A flash flood warning is in effect for Calaveras County until 5:30pm this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says thunderstorms producing very heavy rain are drenching the Mother Lode causing several road hazards.
CDF officials are performing evacuations on Highway 12 west of Central Hill Road.
Highway 26 at La Contenta between St. Andrews and Hogan Dam Road is closed. Sixteen homes in La Contenta have been evacuated. Burson Road is being recommended as an alternate route.
Evacuees are being asked to go to the Shell Station to get further instructions from Red Cross officials. Red Cross is in the process of setting up a shelter.
A rock slide is being cleared from Highway 12 at Whiskey Hill.
Some private roads in the Circle XX subdivision off of Highway 4 are flooded.
Sand bags can be picked up at the CDF headquarters on Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas.
