Mother Lode Schools Prepared For Columbine Type Attack
Sonora, CA — It was seven years ago today that Columbine High School in Colorado endured that shooting tragedy that took the lives of a dozen students and one teacher.
KVML News asked Tuolumne County Schools Superintendent Joe Silva about the Standardized Emergency Management System plan that is in effect for his schools should such an incident take place.
Silva says the schools have a good relationship with the police, fire department, and the county crisis officer. He believes that if an attack were to happen, they would be prepared.
Calaveras County Schools Superintendent John Brophy says they are also doing things to protect staff and students. Brophy says each school site has a fire proof box that only officials have access to; it contains keys to all of the rooms in the building.
