Calaveras Hires Leader For New Agency

San Andreas, CA — The long awaited merger of two Calaveras County departments will take place now that the agency has a leader.

Stephanie Moreno of Pacific Grove in Monterey County has been hired to lead the Community Development Department, which will be made up of the Building and Planning Departments.

Officials decided to merge the two departments in 2005 to streamline the building process.

Moreno was an Amador County Supervisor in the 1990s. Her parents still reside in Plymouth.

She currently works as a management analyst for Monterey County child protective services.

Moreno will begin the job on May 15 with a $105,000 per year base salary.

She says he looks forward to meeting with the community to develop a consensus on issues that will shape the upcoming General Plan update.

One of her first jobs, though, will be to complete the merger.
