Columbia College Student ID’d As Victim In Fatal Crash
Copperopolis, CA — 27-year old Taryn Cole of Copperopolis has been identified as the woman who died after an accident in Copperopolis Wednesday afternoon.
Cole was a student at Columbia College.
Cole died of injuries she sustained during a crash where she was the passenger in the car of 36-year-old John Paul Newlon of Angels Camp.
Newlon was driving a 1988 Ford F-150 eastbound on Copper Cove Drive when it collided with the rock lane divider before rolling onto its roof.
Newlon and Cole were trapped inside the vehicle. After emergency personnel were able to free them, Newlon was taken to Doctor´s Hospital in Modesto where he is being treated for major injuries.
Newlon´s family members say he is in the Intensive Care Unit and in stable condition.
Cole was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto where she succumbed to her injuries.
The California Highway Patrol says Newlon was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
The Angels Memorial Chapel says Cole´s services will take place there sometime next week.
