Accident at Popular Swimming Hole
Hathaway Pines, CA — Linda Bennington of Railroad Flat is recovering from injuries she received after falling off a waterfall near the Candy Rock Recreation Area on the Stanislaus River.
The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department says it received a call at 5:30 p.m. Monday about a female who fell and was injured.
Personnel from the Sheriff´s Department, the California Highway Patrol, Ebbetts Pass Fire and the Sheriff´s Search and Rescue Team responded.
Upon arrival, they found the injured Bennington who had fallen from one of the upper falls to the lower falls.
A CHP helicopter from Stockton was used to extricate Bennington from the remote river bottom to a nearby Ebbetts Pass Fire Ambulance.
She was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital in San Andreas where she was treated and released.
