Copperopolis Man Injured In Friday’s Wreck

Copperopolis, CA — 66-year old Ned Kubitz of Copperopolis is recovering from major injuries after a collision on O´Byrnes Ferry Road Friday afternoon.
Kubitz was driving a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria behind a 1999 Chevy Pickup driven by Robert Cairns of Riverbank.
The CHP says Cairns attempted to make a u-turn but due to a curve in the road did not see Kubitz approaching from the rear.
With Cairns´ vehicle blocking both lanes of traffic, Kubitz swerved to the left but was unable to avoid hitting Cairns.
Kubitz´ vehicle continued off the roadway and down an embankment before coming to a rest.
Kubitz was taken to Sonora Community Hospital. He has been admitted and is listed in fair condition.
