In an exciting game where both teams took to the air in a bid to win. The Wildcats were able to shine on offense and defense with a convincing 43-12 win. The Wildcats won the coin toss and deferred, then stopped the Huskies’ run game, forcing a punt. The Wildcats’ offense moved the ball but was held short of the goal line and settled for a 38-yard field goal from Estrella. On their next offensive drive, quarterback Eli Ingalls connected with a wide-open Cash Byington for a walk-in touchdown. The same play in the second quarter resulted in a second wide-open touchdown for Byington, giving the Wildcats a 17-0 lead. Hughson was able to finally put points up on the board with a deep pass and a blown coverage. Sonora answered with a potentially record-breaking field goal by kicker Estrella.
When the offense got stopped to start the second half, Coach Clifton returned to Estrella for a third field goal, raising the lead to 23-6. In the fourth quarter, Brody Speer caught a pass on the same play Byington had scored with earlier to extend the lead to 29-6. Hughson scored again but failed to convert on the two-point conversion. An interception by George Renault led to a scoring run from quarterback Ingalls. The Wildcats got the ball one last time after a turnover on downs and scored with a run from running back Steven Olley, closing out the game 43-12.
Next week, the undefeated Sonora Wildcats face off against 5-2 Ripon in continued league play. The Chicken Ranch Casino player of the game was #7 Cash Byington, and the Foust Heating and Air Hot Hit of the game was #6 Steven Morefoot.
