Tuolumne, CA — Tuolumne County Democratic Party leaders held the Evening in the Pines dinner on Thursday evening.
Around 130 people were on hand for the event at the Tuolumne Resilience Center, and it featured speeches from several candidates running in county, state, and federal races. In past years, it was held at Twain Harte’s Eproson Park.
One of the speakers of statewide interest was California Treasurer Fiona Ma, who is running for Lt. Governor in November. Click here to view video of her rallying the crowd about her theme of “58 counties, one California, stronger together.”
Tuolumne County Supervisor Jaron Brandon, a candidate for Senate District 4, talked about the race and highlighted accomplishments of his past six years as a county supervisor. Click here to view some of his comments.

Congressional candidate Michael Masuda, who has been making several stops in the district in recent months in his bid against incumbent Tom McClintock, also spoke.
The closing remarks were delivered by Tuolumne County Supervisor Ryan Campbell. A big topic was fire funding, and click here to view some of the comments.
Special awards were given out to the Volunteer of the Year, Elaine Hagen, the Bridge Builder, Morgan Rain, and the Legacy Award to Mary Ann Schmidt (Click on the photo box)
The brochure handed out to the guests in attendance noted, “Tonight is a recognition of the work: the doors knocked, the meetings attended, the letters written, the hands raised. It’s a night to honor the volunteers who carry this community forward, hear from the leaders fighting for the Sierra in Washington, Sacramento, and right here at home, and we look ahead to what we’re organizing toward.”
