First Apple Festival Gets Large Turnout
Sonora, CA– Many Mother Lode residents may be on an apple craze after tasting many different treats at the first Apple Festival Saturday.
The event was held at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds where several fun apple games took place including the best apple pie contest. There was also a hay maze and a demonstration of how apple cider was made in the olden days.
Covers, Cedar Ridge, and Sierra Glen Apple Ranches attended and sold an assortment of apple goods. Officials say the proceeds of the event will go toward helping the National Alliance on Mental Illness program which houses people with mental disabilities.
President of NAMI, Stephanie Reed, says there where over 600 tickets sold, which was an abundant more than the group expected.
