Bone Marrow Clinic Today At Sonora High To Help Teacher
Darla Mayhew has been a well respected and loved teacher and coach at Sonora High for the past 21 years. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia just over three weeks ago.
In order for her to live she needs a bone marrow transplant. Until one is found she continues to use blood. A Clinic is being set up at Sonora High School on Monday, April 4, 2005 from 1 PM to 6 PM. The participants for the bone marrow need to be 18 to 60 years old and in good health. A blood sample is taken and the person is put on the Heart of America Bone Morrow Registry.
Anyone at least 17 years old and over , weighing at least 110 pounds, and healthy, without a disease history, can be a blood donor. Someone 18 or older could donate blood and at the same time be placed on the bone marrow registry.
This whole process to possibly save a life takes only about an hour. You do not need an appointment, however, if you have any questions please call 533-9391. Donations are also welcome.
