Lawmakers Honored With Parks Award
The late Congressman Bob Matsui, as well as Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein have been recognized by the nonpartisan National Parks Association.
The group honors lawmakers each year with its Friend of the National Parks award . Spokeswoman Andrea Helsel says the award was established in 1999 to track and publicize congressional members´ voting records on significant park issues. Boxer, Feinstein, and Matsui´s widow will each receive a framed reproduction of a 1930´s Works Progress Administration poster and a plaque that reads: “Friend of the National Parks, 108th Congress”. The National Park featured in this year´s poster is Mount Rainier.
