Calaveras Sheriff Accused Of Discrimination
San Andreas, CA — A former San Francisco policeman has accused Calaveras County officials of discriminating against him based on his sexual orientation.
Kenneth Catamout filed a claim against the county October 4 saying the Sheriff´s Department did not hire him due to his sexual orientation.
The claim was considered by the Board of Supervisors Monday. But, county Counsel Jim Jones said the board wanted to discuss the matter further so it continued the discussion one week to meet in a closed session.
Sheriff Dennis Downum is away at classes and was not available for comment.
The board has the option to deny the claim, which would give Catamout six months to file a lawsuit.
