West Point, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man in West Point was injured in a shooting incident that is actively under investigation.
It happened during the nine o’clock hour on Wednesday evening in the 22000 block of West Point Pioneer Road. Deputies arrived on the scene and assisted a man who had a gunshot wound in his lower body. He was stabilized using a tourniquet and transported to a local hospital for medical care.
Two suspects allegedly involved had left the scene before the deputies’ arrival.
The sheriff’s office reports, “Detectives are actively analyzing physical, digital, and forensic evidence in an effort to identify and locate the individuals responsible. Based on the information currently available, investigators believe this was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another, and there is no known ongoing threat to public safety at this time.”
