$18.6 Million Coming To Tuolumne County For Storm Recovery Projects

Sonora, CA — Federal funding, allocated via the California Department of Housing and Community Development, is coming to Tuolumne County.

$18.6 million will help the county address impacts following severe storm events and proactively harden public infrastructure against future threats.

Planned road projects include storm damage repairs along Tuolumne Road North, Big Hill Road, Wards Ferry Road, Italian Bar Road, and Longeway Road.

Drainage and culvert improvements are planned at Standard Park and at some county buildings.

Roadside fuel reduction will be done, and evacuation signage will be placed, in vulnerable communities.

There will also be project partnerships with the Groveland and Twain Harte community service districts and the Tuolumne Parks and Recreation District.

The Tuolumne County Public Works Department reports that it is currently coordinating with the state to finalize the award funding. The individual projects will be authorized after state review, with an anticipated completion date in 2030.
