Sonora, CA — A leader in Tuolumne County government will be exiting later this month for a position with the City of Sonora.
Liz Peterson has spent over 10 years in Tuolumne County government. She is a Deputy CAO and has most recently been overseeing the county’s library and parks and recreation departments. In addition, she has overseen many forestry-related efforts and partnerships.
Peterson has accepted a position as Sonora’s new Administrative Services Director. Her final day with the county will be on September 18, and her first day with the city is September 21.
She says, “There’s a lot I will miss at the county, mainly the amazingly dedicated and talented staff who provide the services to our community. While overseeing the county’s forest health program for the past 8-plus years has been a privilege, I was particularly honored this past year to also support the library and parks and recreation departments. Those teams do incredible, often unseen work, and I have enjoyed supporting them in their jobs.”
She adds, “I will miss working with these departments, but I am excited about working with the great staff at the city and being a part of the team implementing the city council’s goals.”
Peterson adds that she was born and raised in the City of Sonora and looks forward to serving fellow Sonora residents.
There has been a transition in county government over the past couple of years, with several leaders coming and going, including changes in the Community Development Department, Counsel, CAO, OES, and Parks and Recreation.
