Update at 1:05 pm:Â The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is providing some additional details about a plane crash earlier today at the Columbia Airport.
At 11:23 am, a plane crashed on takeoff. The pilot, who was the only person inside, was not injured. The plane hit a hangar, causing extensive damage to the plane, but minimal damage to the structure. The NTSB and FAA have been notified and have assumed control of the investigation. No additional information has been released.Â
Original story posted at 11:44 am: Columbia, CA — There was a report of a small aircraft crash at the Columbia Airport at around 11:15 am.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office relays that first responders described it as a minor incident with no injuries.
Scanner traffic indicated that it was reportedly a plane that hit a hangar. Some fluids leaked out that need to be cleaned up. Several fire and first responders were initially dispatched, but many were quickly called off.
