6 Acres Burned After Truck Loses Tire
They were our first brush fires after the end of fire season, but they were controlled in very short order.
Multiple vegetation fires were reported along Highway 12, in the general area near Toyon Middle School, toward Valley Springs Thursday afternoon.
At first, two fires were first reported east of Valley Springs, but firefighters soon called in as many as ten spots of fire.
Each fire was estimated at a quarter-acre or less.
The total acreage burned is estimated at 6 acres.
Fire crews on the scene reported a slow rate of spread, and no structures damaged.
The cause was apparently a cement truck reportedly seen along Highway 12 that had lost a tire and didn´t know it.
Someone finally was able to flag down the truck driver, according to the CDF.
