Mother Tries To Ease Tensions In Logging Battle
The mother of an environmental activist killed during a 1998 forest protest wants to lessen the tension of the timber battles on California´s North Coast. Cindi Allsbrooks hopes to meet this week with groups representing various sides in the disputes over timber protests.
Her son, David Chain, was killed by a felled tree while protesting logging on Pacific Lumber Company land in Humboldt County. Humboldt County Supervisor John Woolley met with Allsbrooks on Thursday morning. He says she has been following Northern California´s timber battles from her home in Texas — and now wants to “bring about a change in the dialogue.”
