Summer Rain, Lightning Hits Mother Lode

Rain and thunderstorms returned to the Sierra Nevada and the Mother Lode region Thursday.
Heavy rain also drenched the western shore of Lake Tahoe. A flash flood watch is in effect through the evening in the Sierra south of Lake Tahoe.
Lightning strikes from these storms continue to plague area firefighters, The U.S. Forest Service says there are now close to 50 small lighting sparked wildfires burning in the Stanislaus National Forest.
