A group representing entertainment industry workers is seeking to force the U-S to tax Canadian-made productions shipped to the States for editing or distribution. The Film and Television Action Committee accuses Canada of unfairly subsidizing T-V and film productions through incentives that can reduce labor expenses by 35 percent. Nearly 26 percent of movies shot in North America and released in 2000 were filmed in Canada, up from 13 percent in 19-99. This type of “runaway production´´ cost the U-S economy nearly three billion dollars in 19-98.
