Fire Contained In Santa Clarita

Firefighters were on the scene throughout the night mopping up hot spots in Santa Clarita where a wildfire burned 250 acres. Embers from the fire torched a home two blocks from the firefront and damaged two other houses before firefighters got the flames nearly under control. At one point, flames came within 30 feet of backyards. Residents from about 200 homes were evacuated. Firefighters battled temperatures near 100 and wind gusts around 20 miles an hour as they fought the flames.
