Fire Near Groveland Contained

Fire units and aircraft battled a structure fire that spotted into surrounding vegetation at the end of Boitano Road and Stoney Mill Road in a remote ridge area near the Pine Mountain Campground in the Groveland area. The fire broke out around 4 p.m. this afternoon and was first reported by a Tuolumne City resident who spotted it from across the river canyon. The wildland fire had been contained first, but additional units were called in to control the structure fire.
County Fire Marshall Kary Hubbard says a CDF helicopter crew was first on the scene and is being credited with keeping the fire from spreading.
