Arts Council Still In Limbo

Central Sierra Arts Council director Julie Muchet says the organization is hoping state lawmakers get a budget passed soon. The Council´s funding from Tuolumne County relies on what legislators come up with this year. She says the state´s 50% cut in Arts funding in the proposed budget is not a good sign.
Muchet says she hopes a survey this year showing a $15-million revenue impact in Tuolumne County will eventually inspire a change in attitude. The state budget remains in stalemate over proposed tax hikes and counter-proposals for spending cuts.
