Clear Track For Locomotive
It´s full steam ahead for Sierra Railway vintage locomotive Number 34´s trip to Oakdale.
As of late Thursday afternoon, organizers of this weekend´s Iron Horse Round-up received full approval to move the vintage locomotive from Railtown 1897 to Oakdale tomorrow.
Sierra Railroad spokesman Patrick Karnahan says everything´s now in place and the steam engine will be pulled out from the Railtown roundhouse sometime Friday morning — the first time the 87-ton 1920´s-vintage Baldwin has been moved since it was put into storage in 1980.
The historic Sierra Railway engine will be the featured display at the Oakdale depot during this weekend´s event.
The massive iron horse will be towed to Oakdale for the railroad festival, since it can´t moved under its own steam power.
