Stiffer Fines Ahead On Highways

Drivers pulled over for driving too fast or while drunk could face an increased fine if a bill passed by the Assembly is successful. The bill adds an additional 200 dollars to the fines for driving faster than 100 miles per hour, reckless driving or racing. Drivers who are drunk and get into an accident also will get the higher fines. State officials estimate the increased fine could raise up to 50 million dollars for emergency medical services.
