California has had 31 deaths in Labor Day holiday weekend traffic crashes. The number is lower compared to last year, when 46 people died on California highways in the first 48 hours of the holiday period. The CHP also said that during the 48-hour period ending at 6:am today, it made 1,363 arrests of motorists for driving under the influence of intoxicants. That’s 119 more than the number of DUI arrests during the same holiday period a year ago.
