Two Dead In Melones Boating Accident

Tuolumne County Authorities are investigating a boating accident that killed two people Friday night at New Melones Lake. Six people went into the water as a result of the accident. Two of the boaters made it to shore and two were rescued by a Tuolumne County Boat Patrol Crew. Saturday morning, Amador County Boat Patrol joined in the search for the missing boaters. One of the victims was found dead by the shoreline, the other was found just under the waterline Saturday afternoon. Robert John Cuevas, Sr. of Riverbank and Robert Howard Brandenburg of Modesto were pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
