Leonard Fire 60% Surrounded
The Leonard Fire near San Andreas is 60% contained and has burned 4,395 acres. 1,565 firefighters are
at the blaze and will continue controlled back burning tomorrow. One firefighter was injured, bringing the total of injuries to four. None of them are
serious.
Captain Joel Vella of the CDF says provided firefighting effors go as planned, evacuated residents will be allowed to return home at 7
O´Clock this evening. Only residents will be allowed into previously evacuated areas. They are asked to be prepared to show proper idetification to be allowed
back into the area. Some residents may be without power as P G & E crews continue to replace burnt power poles. Once in the area, residents are asked to
drive slowly and carefully and to watch out for fire crews still on the scene. The fire is 60 percent contained and 4820 acres have been consumed. The fire is
expected to be fully contained by 6 p.m. Saturday. Local residents may call the 24-hour CDF information center at 754-5773, 754-4692, and
