Jones Proposes New Ethics Rules

Secretary of State Bill Jones says new ethics rules are needed to prevent conflict of interests by government
officials.
Jones presented a new ethics plan today. It will be sponsored as legislation next year by Republican Assembly member George Runner of
Lancaster.
The proposed rules would require public officials to file a statement of economic interest the first day on the job. Paychecks would be
withheld until they are filed.
