Pelosi Supports Bill
California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, recently elected to the number-two post in the House, delivered the Democrats´ national radio address this morning. She urged the majority Republicans to bring up the Senate-passed airline security
bill, to put all airport security personnel on the federal payroll.
She said the nation´s economic troubles have been worsened by the problems of the airline industry since the September eleventh terrorist attacks. Pelosi said, “Airline safety is critical to getting us back to business as usual.´´ But she said some majority Republicans in the House opposed to the federalization of airport security are holding up the overall bill. The legislation would put all 28-thousand passenger screeners and other airport security employees on the federal payroll.
