Murals, Music, Magic And More
Sonora, CA — Earlier this year the City of Sonora Planning Commission gave the okay to place an 8 x 24 ft. mural near the site of the downtown Farmers Market.
BZ Smith, local arts and mural advocate, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Smith helped to get the word out to pack Sonora’s City Hall with numerous people in favor of the mural.
The mural will be located at 101 S. Stewart Street. The volunteer committee now plans to continue to progress and are picking up efforts to raise money for the project.
Smith also spoke about the loss of her good friend and Mother Lode musical icon, Ron Delacey. Delacey was half of “Doodoowah”. Dave Cavanaugh was the other half of the duo. Together, they were one of the most popular acts in the region, and also toured nationwide. Delacy passed away last week following a long battle with cancer.
Smith reminded residents that downtown Sonora will be very active both this Friday (“Magic of the Night”) and Saturday (“2nd Saturday Arts Night)”. Smith encourages residents and visitors to experience one or both of the evenings.
For more information about any of the information listed above, Smith encourages people to call her at (209) 532-7697.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45am.
