County Libraries Remain Closed

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – Water Woes have caused two county libraries to remain closed through the holidays.

The Twain Harte Branch Library was scheduled to open today after a water leak in the office next door caused damage to the library a week ago.

Youth, Literacy, & Outreach Librarian Lynn McCormick says, “Unfortunately, the carpet still needs to be cleaned and the books need to finish being put back on the shelves. We want to make sure that everything is pristine before we reopen to the public.”

The repairs will be covered by insurance. McCormick says they hope to open the Twain Harte Library by January 2nd. That is also when the Tuolumne City Branch Library is slated to reopen. It has been closed for more than two weeks after a water pipe burst during the recent arctic blast.

In addition, all other county libraries will be closed on New Year’s Day, January 1st.
