Ban Transit Strikes?
Sonora, CA — Senator Tom Berryhill is introducing legislation that would ban public transit employees from going on strike.
Berryhill is a co-author of Senate Bill 423. “Mass transit is essential to California’s well-being and economy,” says Berryhill. “The law already prevents essential workers such as police and fire officials from striking; It makes sense to expand that to include public transit employees.”
Berryhill says recent strikes in places like the Bay Area and Los Angeles resulted in roads and highways looking like “parking lots,” and often resulted in extensive traffic delays.
Berryhill’s District 14 covers the Mother Lode region.
