New Mother Lode Fair Manager
Sonora, CA — The Mother Lode Fair Manager Don Bean has resigned. The man taking over the reins is Forest White, who has held the position in the past. White says he will be able to hit the ground running thanks to his prior experience.
White says, “We’re not going to miss a beat, hopefully. The one thing I bring to the table is that I’ve been there – I’ve done it, so hopefully people won’t see a major change.”
Bean resigned as part-time Fair Manager citing that his full-time job at SaveMart took up too much of his time, and he could not devote enough time to the Fair Manager position. Bean was hired last February after being chosen for the job out of 30 applicants. He replaced veteran of 12 years Fair Manager, Jan Haydn-Myer, who retired to spend more time with her family.
White served previously as the Mother Lode Fair Manager in 1980-1981 and again in 1998-2002. His title will be Interim/Part-time Fair Manager and his pay will be $25 an hour. White’s first day on the job was yesterday. Fair officials say they do not have plans to hire a full-time Fair Manager at this time.
White says, “Overall my goals, the board’s goals and I think the communities is to keep the fair viable, keep a strong facility for year round use, and then put on a good fair.”
White is also a current City of Turlock Councilmember.
