California May Vote On Marijuana
Sacramento, CA — A group filed state paperwork yesterday with plans for a 2016 marijuana ballot measure.
The Marijuana Policy Project, based in Washington, DC, is hoping that California will legalize marijuana for recreational use. It is drafting a bond measure similar to what passed in Colorado and the state of Washington in 2012. The group filed papers with the California Secretary of State’s Office yesterday, so that supporters can legally begin fundraising and holding campaign events.
California voted down a similar bond measure in 2010. The group is calling for the drug to be regulated and taxed similar to alcohol.
