Targeting Motorcycle Fatalities
Sacramento, CA — Fatalities and injuries involving motorcycle have increased by more than a combined 13% in California according to the latest figures from 2012. To reduce those numbers, the CHP has started a yearlong series of public outreach campaigns funded through the “Have a Good Ride” state grant.
Numerous local and statewide motorcycle safety and road-sharing presentations will be held throughout the state. One of key components of the program is to spread the “Share the Road” message. It focuses on reinforcing all drivers to stay alert and use common sense and courtesy on the roadways. Motorcyclists will also be encouraged to minimize their risks by always wearing a helmet and other protective gear.
The California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provided funding for the grant.
