Several Hurt In Two Calaveras Crashes
Calaveras County, CA — There were major injuries sustained in a pair of Calaveras County vehicle accidents.
The CHP reports that the first incident happened at 2:45pm on Tuesday along West Murray Creek Road near Whiskey Slide Road. The CHP investigated and learned that a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country driven by 32-year-old Jessica Stricler of Mountain Ranch collided head-on with a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 71-year-old Fred Garrison of Mountain Ranch. The CHP determined that Stricler was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was taken to Mark Twain Medical Center to treat moderate injuries. A passenger in her vehicle, 22-year-old Jay Hopwood of San Andreas suffered major injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Garrison also sustained major injuries and was taken to Mark Twain Medical Center.
A crash also occurred at 4:40pm on Murphys Grade Road near French Gulch Road. The CHP reports that 30-year-old Ki Purvis was driving a 1995 Saturn out of a driveway on Murphys Grade Road and failed to see an oncoming vehicle driven by 87-year-old Earl Evans of Murphys. The two vehicles collided. Purvis was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto to treat major injuries. Evans and a passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries and declined medical aid.
