First Weekend Of June Events
Keep an eye on the weather and plan to attend some of the many Mother Lode events this weekend.
Two Pancake Breakfasts will be held Saturday morning, one at Jamestown Community Hall, the other at the Twain Harte Cal Fire Station. Also in Twain Harte this Saturday is the 2nd Annual Royal Flush Crapper Derby & Craft Fair. The event is put on by the Twain Harte Rotary. A parade begins at 9:00 am followed by the outhouse races, food, contests, and music. The event listing is here.

There are two events at Big Trees, the Summer Concert at the Park featuring Michela Macfarlane and Cantamos. Ticket details and more are here. Also, if you signed up, the Natural History Discovery Program begins this weekend. The summer program in Calaveras Big Trees State Park offers; hikes of two miles, demonstrations, talks, and audio-visual programs will include the topics of astronomy; animal adaptations; Sierra geology and weather; dendrochronology; the mixed conifer forest, wildflowers, and birds; Giant Sequoias and fire ecology; people through time; and the history of the National Park Service and one Ranger’s story. The Annual Red Dress Party is at the Val du Vino Winery in Murphys. Dress in red, as a symbol of solidarity with people living with AIDS/HIV for this fundraising event that is benefiting Sierra HOPE, a non-profit organization providing services in Calaveras, Tuolumne and Amador counties.
