20 Years Of Labor Day Weekend Logging Jamborees
The 20th Annual Logging Jamboree will be held in White Pines this Saturday, September 5th, 2015.
John Hofstetter, Executive Director for the Friends of the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
This is the largest event of the year at the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, located on 2148 Dunbar Road, next to White Pines Lake.
The family event runs from 9 AM – 5 PM.
Instruction and competition for amateurs who would like to compete in logging competition and activities (such as ax throwing) will begin about 9:00 AM.
Competition for pros starts about noon and wraps up about 4:00 PM.
Visitors will find exhibits to look at and tours of the museum will be given throughout the day.
There will be special talks and demos featuring the historic Shay locomotive, demonstrations, raffles, and more.
The local Moose will have their barbecued hamburger and chicken sandwiches for sale. Soda water, water, local beer, and wonderful local wines will be sold, plus they will offer cookies and snow cones.
There will be games with prizes for the kids.
The admission for those twelve years old and older is $5.
The museum’s day-to-day expense coverage depends on events such as this, memberships held in the non-profit organization Friends of the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum and donations from individuals or service groups.
