U.S. Forest Service Wants You
Sonora, CA — The U.S. Forest Service is looking for Mother lode residents with a long-term interest in the well-being of the Stanislaus National Forest (STF) to serve as advisers.
The forest is seeking 15 members to form a Tuolumne and Mariposa counties Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) to oversee special projects on federal lands. Forest officials say the types of projects can include improving the maintenance of existing infrastructure, implementing stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems, and restoring and improving land health and water quality.
To apply you must be a resident of one of the counties and fill out a membership interest form, found here Forest Committee Form. The criteria will include experience, collaborative decision-making, contribution to the balance and diversity of the RAC.
