Sonora Pass Joins Tioga And Ebbetts Passes As Open For The Season
Sonora, CA — Caltrans officials confirm that Highway 108 Sonora Pass is now clear for motorists. It is the third of the Mother Lode’s three passes to be ready for seasonal travel.
According to Caltrans spokesperson Rick Estrada, the gates swung loose around noontime Wednesday. In a jovial phone call with Clarke Broadcasting, he cracked, “Our crews have shoved aside the snow, removed the rocks and cleared the road after a wet winter — and that is something that we can all celebrate!”
Highway 120 Tioga Pass also opened at noon, as Yosemite National Park officials earlier confirmed. Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass opened last Friday.
