Calaveras CHP Officer Saves A Kitten And Gets Temporary Partner

Sponsored by:

Calaveras County, CA – An eagle-eyed San Andreas Unit CHP officer saved a kitten and got a new partner—at least for a little while.

The officer was recently returning to the county after an appointment along Jack Tone Road south of Highway 26 when something on the white line of the shoulder caught his eye. It was the movement of a little kitten lying on the white sideline of the roadway. Luckily, the little guy did not venture out onto the road as the officer turned around to take a closer look. Once he picked up the kitten, it appeared to be unharmed.

The officer gave the kitty the name “Jack,” and the critter rode shotgun for a while until animal control was able to relieve Jack of his duty of lying on the sunny dashboard of the cruiser. The officer was relieved to find out that Calaveras County Animal Service would get the kitten checked by a vet and then put it up for adoption to hopefully find a forever home.
