Peak Reservations No Longer Needed In Yosemite After Weekend
Yosemite, CA – This will be the last weekend that the controversial peak-hour reservations are needed to drive through Yosemite National Park.
Park officials announced today that it is ending its daily reservation season earlier than it was scheduled to end this year. After this weekend (10/12/13), visitors will no longer be required to have a day reservation from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. to drive into Yosemite for the remainder of the year. This decision came a couple of weeks earlier than the reservation requirement was slated to end. As earlier reported here, the reservation system this year was implemented on January 5th and was to end on October 27th.
“Based on our monitoring of visitor use patterns and impacts, we are ending a few weeks early,” stated park officials.
Refunds will automatically be returned to those with a peak-hours reservation valid after October 13th. Reservations are still needed this weekend and on holidays between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.
