Sonora, CA — More than 150 club teams from all over NorCal dressed up in costumes and competed in the Monster Mash soccer tournament this past weekend in Sacramento, and local teams had plenty to scream about.
“We are very proud of how our teams performed this weekend at the Monster Mash tournament. To have three of our teams win first place and another team in second place is proof of the dedication we have as a club to player development. We are lucky to have the coaches that support both our boys and girls, and we look forward to more success in the future,” said Michael Portillo, League Director.
There are 11 Sierra United teams with roughly 130 players in the program. The teams travel all over California, competing in soccer matches and tournaments. The teams range from bronze (lowest level) to premier (very high level). In the very competitive tournament, Sierra United had an amazing showing at the Monster Mash with these wins:
- Kirk U17 Girls – Tournament Champions
- Portillo U13 Girls – Tournament Champions
- Wilson U10 Girls, Tournament Champions
- Ritts U14 Girls, Second Place
- Evans U11 Boys Costume Contest Winner
Sierra United reports that the U15 Girls team will attend a tournament in Las Vegas this coming weekend. The team has recently had four players selected for an elite girls’ team that will play in a showcase event in England this coming April.
