Travelers On HWY 4 May Notice A New Sign

Sponsored by:

Calaveras County, CA – While traveling along Highway 4 in Calaveras County, a familiar sign has been noticeably absent for the past few years.

It is the sign welcoming travelers to the Stanislaus National Forest. It was replaced at the beginning of this month thanks to a partnership between the Calaveras Ranger District Recreation Team, Resource Management Staff, and Mule Deer Foundation.

“We’re proud to share that our sign is back up and looking better than ever!” boasted forest officials.

They also noted that these signs are expensive and heavy. The foundation footed the bill, while the recreation team did all the heavy lifting. Forest officials added, “We’ll say it one more time: partnerships work!”

No details regarding what happened to the original sign were released or the cost to replace it. As the image box pictures show, one side of the sign lets visitors know they have entered the forest, and the other side advises travelers that they are leaving.
